Lots of the cable news media is jumping on the “citizen
journalist” bandwagon this week after the hurricane ravaged the gulf coast.
MSNBC and CNN have separate pages for it. The prevalence of digital video and
cameras amongst the American populace is creating this but what I find
interesting is that in this case Chesebro’s two realities and narratives are
intertwining. The people creating the content are the people who are
experiencing the events and then watching it be reported back to them. I wonder
if the cable news channels are sanitizing these reports. Will we be seeing the “The
Hurricanes effect on the Gay Community” stories done by members of the gay
community?

I heard about this on NPR this morning. Essentially, without
invalidating the existing MOMA audio gallery tour, a group of students produced
their own audio tour of the facility and give it away as pod casts. Picaso and
iPod. I think it works at an entertainment, educational and a personal level. I
would love to have an mp3 of my father talking about something he loved as I
saw it also.

Interesting article from the BBC about using the game Myst in the classroom. Other than really bad photo captions, it is a good read.
