Front page of the Indy paper today:
Lilly to give another $20M to Ball State
School will use grant to create 3 institutes for all things tech
The school will use the latest grant to create three institutes within the Center for Media Design.
The Institute for Digital Fabrication and Rapid Prototyping will mix
architecture, engineering and construction with digital production.
Students will work with Indiana limestone producers and steelmakers to
transform computer-generated designs into finished products.
The Institute for Intermedia and Animation is designed to put Ball
State at the forefront of the 3-D animation industry. Students will get
to work with animators, art directors, video-game developers and Web
designers in a professional animation studio.
The Institute for Digital Entertainment and Art essentially will be a
production house where students will work with Indiana's independent
film industry on digital content for movies.
This is big! (

Article Idea
Why are teachers of social studies and liberal arts not using X-Men to teach
about racism in schools. Instead of using a book or text that shows a
particular group (one that may include students in the classroom) abstracting
it out into genetic mutation. Every student in essence has genetic mutations
and does not single out any students. Also to relate to teenagers NYX could be used.
