99 Ways to Tell a Story
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 10 November 2005
I picked up Matt Madden’s book, 99 Ways to Tell a Story, last week. It takes the same story in comic form then reproduces it in 99 different ways. The book certainly reinforces the notion McCloud has that comics are a medium not a genre. It does more than this though by pushing the idea of narrative to a map or inventory. I will probably use it as reference in the future. Link. Write Comment (875 Comments)

End Of Sememster Work Time

Well it getting down to it. For 601, I presented Probe 3 yesterday and have some ideas for Probe 4. Monday I did principle filming for my video and will put together something for the alpha tomorrow night.

Next semester, I want to do a web comic on the PSP and am trying to find a faculty advisor. I will also be doing a GA with Dr. Dailey.
The fall weather is reminding me of Noughts & Crosses a lot and I really want to get it edited next semester and try to get it published. I also will probably be having an artist do The Missionary for me.

So for the rest of the semester I have to do the following:

  • 601 Probe 4
  • 601 Final Document
  • 601 Extended book review
  • 632 Alpha
  • 632 Beta
  • 632 Final

Wow that’s a lot of work…why am I writing a blog. =)

Who Reads The Watchmen?

Time magazine apparently. I am so pleased to see The Watchmen in this list. It shows at some level comics are really beginning to be accepted as a serious medium. I know these lists in the end are all popularity and such but it is awesome to see it mentioned and press about it.

Also for all the comic book junkies out there thinking there should be more graphic novels on the list I would agree but baby steps here. To have a comic on the same list as 1984 is an achievement to be celebrated.

Congrats Mr.’s Moore and Gibbons. Fine work!
